Our trip to California

We are home! We had a great time without any major problems. Here's a little summary of what we did:

Disneyland: Some of you already know this, but this was my first trip on an airplane and to Disneyland. It was incredible! Saige was awesome, she went on anything she could go on. Her favorite ride was the train that was like a roller coaster, I forget what it's called. She liked the pirates of the carribean ride too. Chris thought the Winnie the Pooh ride was awesome...really, it gets all psychedelic in the middle. I love how it's not just a ride, it's a whole experience. I loved the fireworks show. They even had tinkerbell flying around the castle. Saige spent a little bit of time in the princess area. Her favorite princess is Belle and when she came around the corner, that was the first one she saw. You can see the pic of her with her mouth wide open. She was in total awe of her. Kade loved the boat rides, he fell asleep every time we went on one. He got so used to rides that he learned 2 new words: "see" and "look." On the plane home, he had his hands in the air saying "weee." My only complaint is the food. There was a vegetarian option pretty much everywhere we went, but it was so expensive and didn't taste great.

California Adventure: This place was ok, but not wonderful. The roller coaster was really fun and I went on the Tower of Terror twice. That is one of my favorite rides. The kids spent time in the Bug's Life area. Saige loved the rides there. The light parade was over there. That was really cool.

Universal Studios: If any of you go here, you HAVE to go on the Simpsons ride! That was SO cool!! Saige and I went on twice so that my mom and chris could take turns watching Kade. We spent quite a bit of time over there. If you know us at all, you know why. We hung out with Homer and Marge and at the Kwik-E-Mart. It was fun. The animal show they have there is really cool. It made me want to become an animal trainer.

Huntington Beach Hollywood and a night out: The ocean is always fun. Saige was a little hesitant at first, but then she started looking for sea shells and making sand castles. We wrote our names in the sand and Chris and I went body surfing. I'm good as long as I don't think of what kinds of things live under the water lol. Hollywood was dirty and not at all like I pictured. The chinese theater was fun though. When we got back, Chris took me out to dinner for my birthday and then we came back to the resort to get in the hot tub. Right when we got there, we started hearing people say that someone pooped in the pool. Needless to say, it was an interesting night. I had SO much fun though! It sounds weird, but we had fun joking around about it and met some interesting people.

Sea World: This was the highlight of the trip for me. We saw so many different animals and we fed and pet dolphins, how cool is that?! I convinced my poor mom that we should sit in the soak zone for the dophin show and we got so wet. It was fun to see it up close. I didn't plan this, but ended up going on the journey to atlantis ride and sat in front so that Saige didn't have to. She sat in the second row with Chris. I got totally soaked. It washed the sea water off though!

It's good to be home. Our cat, Zeus hasn't left our side since we got back. He even slept in our bed last night. The kids need to catch up on some sleep, but otherwise they did really well.

My first applique

I had one of those "find something cute while I'm surfing the web and think I can do it myself" moments again this morning. Here is the result:

There are a couple of spots where it isn't quite right, but I think I did pretty good for my first try. I'm trying to decide if I should find a way to make him a smile or to just leave it. The shorts are my own design that I'm working on sizing right now :)

Wendy's

What's up with Wendy's new commercials? They talk about themselves being "meatatarians." Their new sandwich sounds absolutely disgusting. It's a heart attack in a bun. Of course, this is just my opinion, but ewwww.

Life Update

I thought I would write a little update about what we've been doing lately. First pic: A couple of weeks ago, I took the kids to East Canyon with my sister and my mom. We went swimming and to the playground. The next day we went to Park City. I took Saige on the Alpine Coaster again. She totally loved it. I didn't use the break at all I hope Chris doesn't read this :) I got video of the whole thing. You can hear her in the video saying "I've never had this much fun mom!"Second pic: Saige started swim lessons last week. She goes Mon-Thurs for 45 min each day. She is getting really good. I want to keep her going with this. It's good for her. She has been needing something like this.
Third pic: Me, my sister and mom took the kids to the Gateway and let them play in the fountain. Zach loved it more than anyone! He laughed the whole time. I got a veggie corn dog at Hot Dog on a Stick, so I was happy :)

Last pics: Wednesday night drive in...in our backyard. Chris bought a projector on Craigslist that we have rigged to the gazebo so that we can watch movies. We even hooked it up at his bday party and played Guitar Hero and Karaoke. It was WAY fun! Anyway, this is becoming one of our favorite summertime traditions.

We went to Antelope Island and Jordanelle last weekend. Of course, I forgot my camera. It was exhausting, but fun. Saige is such a daredevil. She went with Chris on the tube behind the boat. She did great.

Kade is walking full force now. He's learning to run now. He looks at me and says "Run run run!" and then takes off. He is talking a bunch too. He loves to get you and say "tickle tickle" says "more" and points to his mouth when he's hungry, says "who is it" when the doorbell rings, and my favorite thing is when he makes a mess, he looks at it and says "oh no" all dramatic. He LOVES to sing and dance! It's the cutest thing ever!

Disneyland is in less than a week! I'm excited, but I have a lot to do to get ready this week. I'm going to take tons of pictures!

I am the world's biggest klutz...

...today at least. You know the scene in comedies where someone goes to open a door and it hits their foot and it bounces off and hits them in the face? That was me today coming out of the bathroom at work. Then, I was trying to open a Clif bar(yes, another one) and it literally flew out of the package and landed on the desk. Then, I went to wash my face with a paper towel and scratched my eyeball.
Whatever, at least I can laugh at myself.

I'm addicted

I am officially addicted to Clif bars, Vitamin water and the vegetarian gummy bears I found at the health food store. I'm going through a sugar phase...

I ordered some PUL(waterproof fabric) and some organic bamboo/cotton fleece to make some more all-in-one diapers today. *happy dance*

Things I have been working on...

I have started making all-in-one diapers, which are diapers that are used just like disposables, except they are washed and used over and over again. I've been messing around with patterns and I have finally found one that I like. I've made a few for Kade and I LOVE them! I'm really excited to start sizing them and selling them. The cover in the picture is a custom I made for a friend of a friend. It turned out better than I could have hoped.
The second thing I'm working on is a diaper bag. This one I made from fabric I had lying around. I want to make more that are bigger, pockets on the outside for bottles, have a waterproof fabric inside and a better handle. This one is more like a purse, but it turned out really cute.

Sleepy kids

Kade has had a high fever for over 3 days now. The Dr couldn't find anything physically wrong with him. It finally broke this morning and he is acting better. I was getting really tired of the clingy, crying kid I had. I couldn't get him to eat anything but strawberries. Anyway, to help with the fever, I had him sleeping on the main level with the ceiling fan going. Yesterday, I was tired of holding him, so I had him lay on the couch with Saige. They ended up falling asleep together :)

Further Update

Further passed away this afternoon. It was really the best thing for him, he was miserable. He had heart attacks from a mass on his heart and a mass on his spleen. I'm going to miss taking him for hikes in the mountains and watching him run all over the place. He went through a lot in his 12 years. This is hard for me for many reasons...one, because that means Circe is getting old. She's almost 10. Further was her buddy, she followed him around all the time. I don't want her to be next.
