I recently traded a mama for a couple of amber necklaces. I got them in the mail yesterday. Kade hadn't been sleeping for about 4 days so I put it on him for a few hours just to see what would happen. He slept ALL night and didn't wake up once! Maybe it's just a coincidence but I'm going to try it again today and see what happens.
Here's some info on the benefits of amber:
Pure Natural Baltic Amber baby teething necklaces have been used in Europe for centuries to help infants through the teething process. They are one of those things that people use because they are so effective. They are so popular that they are sold in European pharmacies.
Historically mothers found that placing a string of amber around the baby's neck soothed and calmed the baby. And over the centuries they passed the lore on from mother to daughter.
Modern science has now explained why this happens.
First modern science has confirmed the effectiveness of amber as a natural cure because of its high content in succinic acid. And not only has it confirmed its effectiveness, synthetically prepared succinic acid is being used in modern medications.
When you place a natural Baltic amber necklace around a baby's neck, it heats to the baby's body temperature. That heating releases succinic acid in the form of amber oil and miniscule amounts of aromatic vapor. ( There is complete information about the curative powers of amber in the Resources section of the navigation bar at the left. )
The healthy amber oil is absorbed through the baby's skin.
"Why did the ancient people wear beads? Why was amber used in herbal teas and Chinese medicines?"
It has long been believed that wearing beads or bracelets of specific minerals could have health benefits.
Although substances, such as pearl and amber, have been found in Chinese medicine to contain medicinal properties, many of the healing ingredients are destroyed by the body's gastric juices if taken internally. Ingredients in certain substances may even trigger serious side effects or sickness, we could never condone this approach. By wearing certain materials close to the body, however, it has been suggested that their molecules may be absorbed by the body, thereby allowing its healing functions to work.
Amber was used regularly for healing and health enhancement in ancient Chinese medicine - a belief that is still practiced today. There are many varieties of amber; some are a very rare occurrence in nature. Amber beads are mainly separated by their colour, transparency, texture or grains, and locality. It is also believed that colour plays a large role in determining the specific benefit(s) an amber bead may have on the body; this being because different colours of beads affect the body differently due to the slight variations in their chemical composition. Benefits are said to include detoxification, increased blood circulation, and improved heart, liver, kidney, and intestinal function.
